The trading journal template that fixed my consistency

After two years of inconsistent results, journaling every trade changed everything. My columns:

  1. Setup name and timeframe
  2. Entry, stop, target, planned R:R
  3. Position size and % risk
  4. Emotional state before entry (1–5)
  5. Did I follow the plan? (Y/N)
  6. Result in R multiples
  7. One lesson

Review weekly. My biggest finding: almost all my losses above 1R came from trades where I broke my own plan.

Tracking in R multiples instead of rands is such an underrated tip.

Add the market regime (trending/ranging). You'll find setups that only work in one.
